Modern Fluted Built-In Project on Signal Mountain
Olive Branch Woodworking recently completed a unique built-in project for a homeowner on Signal Mountain, just down the road from their home on Signal Forest Drive. The goal was to create cabinetry that complemented the existing fireplace and blended seamlessly into the space.
Challenges and Desires
The homeowners wanted something that worked beautifully with their existing décor, especially the fireplace mantel. One challenge was that the left and right sides of the fireplace were not symmetrical. To help visually minimize this, we chose a fluted door design. The continuous vertical lines added a stunning modern look and also helped disguise the uneven door count on each side.

The walls in this older home were very uneven, which is especially challenging when installing floating shelves. To achieve a flawless fit, our team cut each shelf and then scribed it to the wall on-site, ensuring a perfectly clean finish.
Noteworthy Details
This was our very first fluted-door project. It involved significant sanding and detail work, but the final result made every hour worth it. The fluting added depth, texture, and a custom, high-end feel to the entire fireplace wall.
