A Custom, High-End Kitchen Transformation on Signal Mountain
Olive Branch Woodworking partnered with a new Signal Mountain homeowner and contractor to create a highly customized kitchen that overcame layout challenges and delivered a refined, balanced design.
Challenges and Desires:
The main challenge was the range wall: an existing window to the right of the hood created an unbalanced look. To resolve this, we built a custom window frame and designed a matching open cabinet on the left side of the hood, creating symmetry without altering the home’s structure.
Why Olive Branch Woodworking:
The homeowner is a high-end contractor who is new to the area. After visiting multiple cabinet shops and not finding the level of quality he needed, he reached out to us. He toured our shop, visited one of our previous kitchens, and chose Olive Branch as a long-term millwork partner. His personal kitchen served as a test run, and we’ve already completed additional kitchens for him since.
Consultation Process:
We reviewed several layouts due to the home’s challenging existing structure. After touring our shop and a past project, we held two in-home consultations to refine the design. Multiple drawings and elevations were created until we reached the layout that best fit the space.
Services Provided:
Using 3D modeling software, we produced visual layouts that made it easier for the homeowner to make design decisions. Key custom elements included the balanced hood-wall solution, round island sides, and arched built-in doors with glass for a fully custom feel.
Overcoming Challenges:
As an older home, the floors were significantly uneven. Knowing this in advance, we built slightly taller toe kicks so our team could scribe them perfectly to the floor, resulting in a clean and level installation.
