A Dream Closet Retreat on Lookout Mountain
When the Ropella family moved into their new home on Lookout Mountain in Dunlap, one dream topped the list: a luxurious, custom-designed closet that could finally hold everything in one place. For years, the homeowner had relied on four separate closets to house her wardrobe. In this new home, she wanted one breathtaking space that combined beauty, organization, and function.
From Vision to Design
The project began with a personal referral. After being recommended by a close friend and past customer, the Ropellas invited our team to design the closet of their dreams. We held multiple meetings at their old house, carefully measuring, planning layouts, and reviewing budgets. Because the homeowners wanted both a perfect fit and a timeless look, we created several samples in maple, stained maple, and walnut, each with different finishes and sheen levels.
After much collaboration, they chose a stunning natural walnut with a low-sheen finish. To elevate the elegance, we balanced solid wood doors with glass doors, ensuring both functionality and a high-end aesthetic.
Design Details
Material: Natural walnut with a low-sheen finish
Special Features: Grain-matched drawers for seamless beauty
Lighting: Extensive LED lighting integrated throughout
Customization: Balance of solid wood and glass-front cabinetry
Lighting was an important element for the homeowners, and achieving it took some problem-solving. Working alongside their electrician, we overcame the challenge of adding significant LED illumination throughout the closet, making the space both functional and luxurious.
Overcoming Challenges
The largest hurdle came during delivery and installation. With the closet located on the third floor, transporting massive cabinetry pieces wasn’t a small task. It took five trips with a U-Haul and trailer, along with a dedicated team effort, to carefully deliver and install every piece.
A Dream Realized
The finished result was nothing short of breathtaking. When the homeowner first walked into her new closet, she was completely in awe. The space not only achieved her dream of consolidating her entire wardrobe into one room, but it also became a statement piece of the home—an elegant retreat filled with warm walnut wood, custom details, and soft, inviting lighting.
A Project in the Spotlight
This one-of-a-kind closet didn’t just impress the homeowners. With it, Olive Branch Woodworking caught the attention of CityScope Magazine, where it was featured in the fall issue. The combination of craftsmanship, design, and attention to detail made it truly stand out as one of our most noteworthy projects.
